- Broader geographic coverage, so your closest ancient individual match, best-fit mixture model, and composite and mixed-mode profiles are compared against a wider set of ancient populations from around the world.
- More depth across chronological periods, from the Paleolithic through the Early Modern era, for a more complete view when you explore period-by-period results.
- An updated interactive map and Principal Component Analysis chart, reflecting the refreshed dataset so your position relative to ancient reference samples is as current as possible.
Why it matters
The Global Ancient Composition Report is one of our most data-rich reports. It examines your genetic similarity to ancient populations through five different lenses: your closest individual match, a weighted multi-sample mixture, a two-population blend, a variable-proportion blend, and a full searchable match browser.
A larger, better-curated reference dataset means each of these views has more ancient individuals to compare against. This can surface new matches and refine existing ones.
If you have already run this report, we recommend revisiting your results to see how the expanded dataset may have changed your closest matches, mixture models, or PCA position.
As with all DNAGENICS ancestry reports, results describe genetic similarity to reference populations and ancient individuals, not documented proof of direct descent from any specific person or population. A close match indicates shared genetic patterns, one of several useful signals for exploring deep ancestry, not a verified genealogical link.
